Frequently Asked Questions
About the work
-
I work with individuals, partners and couples who are trying to conceive, pregnant, or raising a baby or young child. I'm especially familiar with the experience of building a family far from home. All family forms and backgrounds are welcome (LGBTQ+ families, single parents, adoptive parents)
-
No. You can come while you're hoping to conceive, during a loss or fertility struggle, or years after a birth that still feels unfinished.
You can also come if you're undecided about having children, if childlessness is not what you had imagined for your life, or if you're grieving a path that didn't happen.
-
Anything connected to this stage of life: worries about conception or pregnancy, fears around birth, processing a difficult birth, grief after a miscarriage or stillbirth, changes in your relationship or identity, exhaustion and low mood after the baby arrives, or feeling alone in a new country.
If you're a parent and find yourself feeling regret, resentment, or a sense of having lost yourself, that is welcome here too. These feelings are more common than most people admit, and they don't make you a bad parent or a bad person. Here, you don't have to protect anyone from your thoughts or explain yourself. There's no "right" time to reach out, and no feeling that's too difficult to bring.
-
"Holistic" means I look at your emotions, body and meaning-making together, for example how stress shows up physically or how a rite of passage matters to you.
"Transgenerational" means we can explore how family patterns and your own upbringing shape the way you parent, if that's helpful for you.
Nothing is imposed. We follow your pace and beliefs.
-
Yes, partners are welcome on the birth preparation sessions or in consultations where we find it relevant to involve them. The individual sessions are your personal space. We keep them for you private.
Babies are welcome up to 3 years of age.
-
Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed sessions, are charged at the full session rate. I may waive this fee at my discretion for genuine emergencies.
Focus areas
-
Counselling can be a meaningful support alongside medical care.
Postpartum depression and anxiety are common and treatable.
Please also see your doctor, midwife or a psychiatrist for assessment, especially if your symptoms are strong or last more than two weeks. I'm happy to support you in finding that help.
-
Yes. Grief after perinatal loss is real and often unacknowledged. We can make room for it, at whatever pace feels right, whether it happened last week or years ago.
-
Yes. I support people through the emotional side of infertility, treatment and the waiting, including its impact on intimacy and your relationship. I don't give medical advice about treatment.
-
Yes. Many people carry a birth experience that felt frightening, out of control or disappointing. We can talk it through gently and at your own pace.
-
Growing Together and Birth Journey are for couples preparing for parenthood or birth, and the Self-discovery workshop is open to anyone. They run in small groups (up to 8 to 12 people).
-
The Birth Journey workshops are not a Kassenleistung birth preparation course and do not replace the standard midwife led birth preparation course (which I highly recommend).
Birth Journey focuses on the birth preparation from perinatal psychology angle and provides a comprehensive guide to explore transgenerational patterns, hidden needs, unspoken desires around birth. The workshop considers both partners as equal and encouraging them to both participate and learn about the realities of child bearing and early post-partum period.
The +1 session is planned to take place after birth, where we meet and share the experiences within the group.
Practicalities
-
English and Hungarian
-
Both. In-person sessions are in Berlin near Bundesplatz and online sessions work from anywhere in Germany or abroad.
-
The first session lasts 90 minutes. We talk about what brought you here, what you hope for, and how I work. Before that you can book a free 30-minutes call to see whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure to continue afterwards.
-
The first 90-minute session costs €110 and each 50-minute session costs €85. A limited number of sliding-scale sessions at €45 are available. I also offer a limited number of Pro Bono sessions.
Sessions are self-pay.
-
Sessions are self-pay. Some private insurances and supplementary plans reimburse Heilpraktiker psychotherapy, so please check with your insurer first.
-
No. Unfortunately, statutory insurance doesn't cover Heilpraktiker consultations. If you'd like therapy through statutory insurance, I can point you to resources for finding a Kassenpsychotherapeut, though waiting times can be long.
If you're in a crisis
-
I can't provide emergency support.
If you're in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself or your baby, call 112, or go to your nearest emergency room.
-
The Berlin Crisis Service provides fast and professional assistance for issues including psychosocial crises and acute mental and psychiatric emergencies.

If the baby doesn't stop screaming, it can overwhelm parents and be very stressful. In the acute situation, it is important to maintain control over oneself. In order not to lose your temper, the following strategy is recommended:
Put your baby in a safe place - for example in the crib or on the floor.
Leave the room for a moment.
Breathe in and try to calm yourself down.
Check on your baby every few minutes.
Do not hesitate to get help and support!
